Standards & Philosophy

Help Center, Inc. Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Statement
Help Center, Inc. works to ensure access and inclusion so that all individuals are able to fully participate in our programs, retrieve resources, have access to our services, and through employment and volunteer opportunities. We are committed to actively working with our team and community to dismantle systems of oppression, recognize and correct bias, and examine ways our current structures may impact or hurt marginalized communities. Our work’s foundation is trauma-informed and recognizes the complexities, worldviews, and multitude of experiences that each individual brings as they engage with our organization.

Our commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion:
  • We will dedicate time and resources to provide quality training and education to our staff and volunteers around issues of equity, diversity and inclusion to better serve our clients and community.
  • We commit to actively address and correct our policies & procedures to better reflect our commitment and values, as well as consult with outside expertise for unbiased perspectives.
  • When making hiring decisions (staff, board, and volunteer) we will keep diversity and equity at the forefront and actively engage in ensuring that all positions are accessible to individuals with diverse backgrounds in order to ensure that all identities are welcomed into our work.
  • We will continue to be transparent about the salary range for public job descriptions.
  • We will continue to advocate for those seeking our services and work with them to address systems of inequity, disparity and oppression.
  • We will identify resources, when available, for underrepresented groups and support those interested in accessing those services.
  • We will take action to ensure that regardless of the ways in which one communicates, there will not be a barrier to our accessing services.
Trauma-Informed Care & Workplace
The Sexual Assault Counseling Center opened in 1996 and began the mission of creating and providing trauma-based interventions and therapies for survivors of sexual assault and their concerned others. Over the years, we have worked to build a whole agency that keeps trauma at the forefront of our care. We know that trauma exists and is prevalent, affecting all aspects of life, both for the individual and the systems they live in. Our goal has always been to educate, address, and reduce trauma when seeking care. Trauma-informed or based responses, like therapy itself, can only go as far as the practitioner or agency itself has gone in the work. To that end, a portion of our staff became part of a national and State project called "Linking Systems of Care.” This created the first Montana-made training and organizational assessment to help agencies that serve our community, become trauma-informed. Thanks to the Linking Systems of Care, our trained staff recently provided their first training for helping programs become “Trauma Informed and Ready”. Helping the world of public service with organizational trauma training will help expand the vision of a trauma-informed workplace for all.
